We’re Counting Down the Days Until We Can Invite You Back to the Cafe.
If you’ve been following us on social media, you know we were “gifted” the not-so-fun present of ringworm right before the holidays.
Our cats freely roam the cafe 24/7, so for the safety of our guests, we’ve decided to remain closed until at least January 23rd to allow enough time to mitigate the fungal spores and monitor for new outbreaks.
Rescue work shows that communicable diseases have a mind of their own, even with our existing rigorous cleaning procedures in place and precautions taken when selecting cats for the Cafe. It’s been 3 years since we’ve dealt with ringworm, and we’re incredibly lucky to have avoided it for so long, as many other rescues and shelters face outbreaks more frequently.
It’s unnerving to announce to the world that you have ringworm in your establishment, but at Treetops, we believe that education is essential, even with sensitive topics.
The outpouring of care and support since our announcement has been incredible. However, between medical costs and this long-term closure, we still need additional help.
If you’d like to make a difference, please consider donating.

Unfortunately, one of our kitties has been compromised by ringworm, a contagious skin condition. For the health and safety of our guests, we are closed for visits until 1/7/25 so we can treat the affected and sanitize our facility. Thank you for being so understanding!
