We offer foster opportunities on an as-needed basis for cats who need a change of scenery. Some need temporary medical care or just don't want to live with 15 other cats in the lounge.
Thank you for your interest in fostering! We only offer foster opportunities for cats who are not thriving here at the Cafe. If cats are happy, social, and comfortable here, they need to stay so they have regular exposure to interested adopters.
Generally speaking, cats who need foster care are kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Longterm foster families are expected to entertain vetted and approved applicants in their home. Travel is stressful for cats, so we want them to stay put as much as possible.
Medical foster cases are fostered until they are finished with medical treatment. Treatment is usually needed for minor illnesses like upper respiratory infections or intestinal diseases. All medical expenses are covered by Treetops. Fosters are expected to take cats to veterinary appointments on their own time. We use Pocopson Vet Station in West Chester, PA.
Our social media is kept up-to-date on a weekly basis and includes announcements about cats who need a foster home. You can find us on Instagram @treetopskittycafe
Fantastic! Just like with fostering, we only offer opportunities for cats who need help the most. Most of our foster-to-adopt opportunities are for cats who want to be the only pet in a home, have ongoing medical needs and medications, or need intense behavior assistance (shy, untrusting, scared).
When you foster-to-adopt from Treetops, our mutual goal must be to place the cat in your home permanently. We do not offer "trial adoptions", but fostering to adopt is a great alternative. Please email us if you want to foster to adopt!
To be a foster for Treetops Kitty Cafe, we ask a few simple questions:
1. Do you live within 30 minutes of Kennett Square, PA?
2. Do you have other pets? Are they up-to-date on vaccines?
3. Do you own your home or rent? If you rent, can you have pets?
